When a student achieves mastery over material, his knowledge must be accompanied by critical thinking skills if it is to be useful. In my tutoring, my goal is to help the student be able to apply what he or she has learned to different scenarios and situations. I encourage students to ask questions, and often I respond with questions of my own to develop their analytical skills.I have tutored many different subjects, and I have been privileged to help students with widely differing learning styles to find their individual paths to success. For some learners, I use visual methods. For others, I break down information into smaller segments to make it more manageable. I feel that it's important to emphasize the relevance of the material to the student's own life and career. When a subject doesn't seem relevant, I'm able to motivate students by explaining how key concepts that they are learning will indeed be very useful to their success in work, family life, and society.Now that I am a university graduate, I am grateful for the caring teachers and professors who were truly devoted and were generous with their time and energy. I try to emulate those teachers who shared their enthusiasm and knowledge with me.
